Shortly after I started my journey through Second Life nearly two years ago, I stumbled across the abbreviations ”RP” … ”IC” and “OOC” – and yes, I must confess ive been a noob and didnt know what the heck these meant … still consider myself bein quite noobish at times, but thats another story =^.^= I had absolutely no roleplay experience from RL (another abbreviation – means “Real Life”) … but gladly I got help from a friend who introduced me into some of SLs popular roleplay Sims and taught me some basics (thanks to David). This helped me to find fun in roleplay, met with other fellow rp’ers, resulted in myself supporting roleplay sims by building for them, till I finally started building an own small roleplay and chillout place which has grown to the place it is right now - the Elven Forest. But what would have been without such support, what if you dont come across such people who help and support you in the beginning?
Thanks to such wonderful people like Amethyst Boucher you dont need to care about that, since we were able to offer the first roleplay class at Elven Forest for all those beginners who are inexperienced and need the right start into RP. Amethyst already gathered a longtime rp experience at many rp realms all over SL and offered to do a voluntary workshop for all Elven Forest visitors and will try to build up some roleplay in the forest during the next months. This will hopefully include further classes and workshops taking place.
The first class did take place yesterday at Elven Forest and covered the following RP basics:
- In character vs. out of charcater
- RP errors like god-modding and metagaming
- Creating a character and story
- Alts and RP ethics
The course was well attended with more than 20 participants – sorry to those of you who did get a ‘region full’-message… we’re already working on that topic for future classes. Course took place in an enjoyable atmosphere giving all participants enough room to get answers to their most favourite questions. For some impressions please see the attached pictures.
